If you are planning to purchase a new mid-size Nissan SUV in America, your only option from this car maker is the big Nissan Armada. The reason behind it is that the popular Nissan X-Terra was discontinued. However, in China, SUV buyers will now be able to purchase the all new Nissan Terra. It is a mid-size SUV that’s based on Navara pickup truck of Nissan. It will debut at Beijing Auto Show in April, yet Nissan has released some images and a teaser for everyone to see.
Most of you have known Nissan Terra was coming for several years now, thanks to the spy photographers, people weren’t surprised a bit to see the big reveal of Nissan. Unfortunately, the car maker has yet to give specifics, yet it is safe to assume that the engine lineup of Terra would be the same as Navara. It includes a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a 2.3L turbo diesel engine.
Based on its interior image, the design of the car’s dash is laid out nicely and you can quickly spot the premium features including the aluminum trim and dual-zone climate control though its infotainment screen looks a bit small. Right now, there aren’t any immediate plans to bring Nissan Terra stateside, which makes sense consider that Nissan in the US still sells the known Frontier pickup truck rather than the newer Nissan Navara. But, it was said that Nissan will work on another Frontier successor that would be sold in America.
There has been something of the midsize pickup truck renaissance, which began with the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, and the reveal of the new Ford Ranger. Ford announced recently a new Bronco, which is based on Ford Ranger and it’s expected to arrive in year 2020. If it’s a success, Nissan might consider turning the next-gen Frontier to a SUV.
