During Monterey Car Week, Ford proudly unveiled their limited edition 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition as their way of commemorating the company’s 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans victory.
Back in year 1967, the all-American team of A.J Foyt and Dan Gurney claimed a winning glory at Le Mans in a Ford GT40 Mark IV. The two drivers then soon rose to become legends in the world of racing, with the GT40 being continually celebrated in the years that followed. This served as the inspiration for the Ford GT offered by the company today. To pay tribute to the popular and well acclaimed victory that took place 5 decades ago, Ford decided to yet again honor the 1967 Le Mans car by coming up with their 2018 Ford GT’ 67 Heritage Edition that will be showcased to the whole world at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
This limited edition GT features a glossy Race Red paint complemented with white stripes and the same No.1 worn by the winning car at Lemans 50 years ago. This also comes with an exposed carbon package, red brake calipers, silver 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, and silver mirror caps. A look inside and you will see the carbon fiber seats of the car with leather trimming and red accent stitching. The seat belt webbing and steering wheel stitching are both red as well, with the paddle shifters in anodized gray. The air vents, center console, and door sills all have sport matte carbon fiber. The rarity of the car is further marked by the serialized identification highlights.
Indeed, it is easy to see that this new addition to Ford’s lineup is the perfect epitome of the eventful victory that will always be a special occasion in the racing world for all the good reasons.
