If you can no longer wait for the unveiling of the newest BMW M3, don’t worry because the 2020 Alpina B3 Sedan is finally here to satisfy your cravings. During its reveal at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, it is easy to see that Alpina B3 takes inspiration from the new B3 Touring. Expected to launch by the first quarter of the New Year 2020, car aficionados can look forward to something great to kick off things on the right foot, or in the case, on the right track tires.
The 3.0-L twin-turbo inline-6 from Munich powers up the ride after going through Alpina’s reengineering. This is combined with the 8-speed ZF auto box. Alpina B3 Sedan can generate 700 Nm of torque between 3,000-4,250 rpm and 455 HP at 340 KW at 5,000 to 7,000 rpm. When flat out, this can run at 188 mph and a sprint of 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds, which is 0.1 second faster than B3 Touring.
Similar to its estate brother, B3 Sedan is fitted with the xDrive-based intelligent all-wheel-drive system with the ability of variably distributing torque between two axles if required. There is an electronically-controlled rear limited-slip differential that maximizes traction when cornering at high speed. There is also a retuned-suspension that has three modes for driving namely Sport, Comfort, and Comfort+ that facilitates a comfortable but dynamic ride. There is also an available Sport+ driving mode for variable torque distribution, gearbox, and sports steering.
The car also has a revised stance courtesy of a few aerodynamic elements, 20-inch forged wheels or 19-inch for the winter tires that are shod in the Pirelli rubber, as well as a sports exhaust system complete with the twin tailpipes integrated with the rear diffuser. Customers are also free to choose between the Alpina Green Metallic and Alpina Blue Metallic options for paint finishes.
