Other than 570GT and 570S Coupe, 2018 McLaren 570S Spider is coming to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed for its world debut. The event will be held on the 29th of June in England.

What makes McLaren 570S Spider interesting is that this 2-seat, rear-wheel-drive comes with a retractable hard top that drops in fifteen seconds at the speed of 25 mph. The new top of this Sports Series Spider adds an extra 101 lbs of weight, yet comes without structural rigidity loss, based on what the car manufacturer stated. Its retractable wind deflector lessens wind buffeting once the top is down and it may be lowered with top up for a louder engine soundtrack and extra airflow.

McLaren 570S Spider features the same 3.8L twin-turbo V8 that takes pride of its 443 pound-foot of torque and 562 horsepower as the coupe combined with the same 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. This car can sprint from 0-60mph in just 3.1 seconds and up to 204 mph top speed with top up.

According to the CEO of McLaren, Mike Flewitt, McLaren 570S Spider is considered as the most attainable Spider series to date and adds another dimension to the family of McLaren Sports Series. He also added that the car is a convertible without compromise and the carbon-fiber MonoCell 2 chasis and mid-engine layout of the car guarantees the same thrilling performance as well as incomparable driver involvement enjoyed in 570S Coupe, yet with added attraction of the retractable hard top, which delivers extra exhilaration of the roof-down motoring.
